Fall Composting Class Series 2022

• 10/20 - UPDATE: due to weather, this class will be held INDOORS at CCE-Tompkins. Using an indoor composting system allows those without outdoor space to compost and make a rich soil amendment for houseplants or container gardens. People with outdoor space can also benefit from composting indoors. Worm composting produces a particularly rich product. Indoor methods keep compost active over the winter, and can be easier than maintaining an outdoor bin. Class topics include worm composting, bokashi composting, and other indoor methods. Every household will go home with a working worm bin, and all the info you need to get started.

• 10/27 - Outdoor composting skills can help you to compost large amounts of leaves, garden debris, food scraps and more. The compost you make will improve your soil and your garden will thrive. Class topics include compost basics,options for outdoor composting, how to manage and troubleshoot, how and when to harvest, and the many ways to use finished compost. This class will be held OUTDOORS in the compost demo site at CCE-Tompkins.

Come to one class or come to both of them. We guarantee that you will acquire composting knowledge and skills that you can put to use this fall/winter.

The series was originally scheduled to start on Thurs, 10/13. But because of rain, this first class was rescheduled for Thurs, 10/27.

The class on indoor methods on 10/20 will now be held indoors at CCE-Tompkins due to the cold, rainy weather forecast.
